Arguments For Preferring Senior Citizen Home Care

by Suzy Edris

It has been a proceeding dilemma on how to decently attend to our elderly parents’ well beings and demands with the increasing number of elderly people in the United States. Even though you can easily notice senior citizen home care everywhere in the country where nearly all the states have their own semi government or privately owned senior citizen home care, you should have honorable grounds why you must send your elderly parents away. Of course senior citizen home care have their salutary cause.

Sometimes many of the children decide to care for their elderly parents in their own homes out of love, guilt or responsibility, but absolute majority of them send them to senior citizen home care where they claim that their parents will be substantially looked after and closely kept an eye on by the staff at the senior home care.

Below is a short summary of the respective rationalities why people send off their elderly to senior citizen home care. Read on. You could find yourself arriving at equivalent conclusion too.

1. Proper Home Health Care For Elderly Parents

In senior care facilities they have a team of medical professionals who will monitor their health with monitoring devices available, it is of course different than inside the household where merely one nurse or a couple of the family members who will or can keep an eye on them. Therefore their health is monitored in good order. There are in house physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses and even physical therapists who will all take care of their health because they are being paid to do their job. Nurses and caregivers will also ensure that they consume their medicines on a regular basis, as we all know it is not easy persuading them to take their medicines and they are going to have proper rest and sleep too because they are made sure to have the expected number of hours of sleep for their age.

Diet is tightly supervised

There are other advantages of senior citizen home care that drive many children to take the decision of sending them there. The difficulties of sitting on the table and provide different types of food for them will be a hard job. Not only due to the big age gap meaning different opinions and views, but also when preparing the food for them. At this age, worse still if they have health problems, there are many food that they can no longer eat or they may lose their appetite. What are you going to do? On the other hand in senior citizen home care, you don’t have to worry what food they can or cannot eat, or whether they are not going to eat at all because their diet will be more closely monitored and they will be provided with foods that are a lot more in tune with their existing metabolism and bodily requirements. So it is a plus there to both parties.

And because the senior care home is cooking for people at the same age level, you can make certain that the foods that they serve up are all suitable for their age. You will be able to even call for a special diet just in case your elderly parent or relative has health concerns.

3. Close attention is given

One of the most usual reasons why families send their elderly members to senior citizen home care is the fact that they don’t have time to look after them. This is particularly true if all the family members have to work or have school during the day and no one is in the house to keep an eye on them. With senior citizen home care, they are certain that their elderly parents and relatives are given close and exclusive attention.

Getting the Lowdown on Alzheimers disease

by Wray R. Herring, Jr

Alzheimers is the Death of the Mind Before the Death of the Body. Alzheimer’s disease has been identified as a protein misfolding disease, or proteopathy, due to the accumulation of abnormally folded A-beta and tau proteins in the brains of AD patients. Alzheimers’ is an incurable, progressive, but often slow-to-progress disease, the diagnosis isn’t the end of the world but the early of a process and you and your mother just have to have the attitude you’ll deal with it. A 2006 pilot study showed small but significant improvements in various cognitive rating scales in patients with Alzheimer’s disease after treatment with etanercept, Tumor necrosis factor-alpha receptor fusion protein, which binds to tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and decreases its role in inflammation of nervous tissue. Approximately 30% of the patients also develop illusionary misidentifications and other delusional symptoms. Alzheimer’s disease, sometimes known as Alzheimers, is the single most common form of dementia but a number of other cases are also known.

Alzheimers is a rather complex disease that seems to be caused by several influences. There is also evidence of that aluminum itself is a neurotoxic agent. Environmental factors such as aluminum presence are under investigation for the cause of Alzheimers disease as well as the prevention of the development of the disease. Although the role of aluminum in Alzheimers is still speculative, the presence of aluminosilicates at the core of senile plaques in diseased neurons is a consistent feature found in the brains of AD patients during autopsy. Other Possible Risk Factors for AlzheimersOne of the most alarming and controversial hypotheses about the potential risk factors for Alzheimer’s concerns a trace metal called aluminum.

This information will give you a better understanding of the realistic capabilities of the loved one. The patients may babble since they lose track of not only other conversations, but their own. You’ll want to discuss the pros and cons of these medications with the patient’s doctor so that you can weigh the benefits and risks. Many of the person’s abilities will be lost but they will still have feelings and emotions that need to be respected. Being a caretakercan takes its toll on you as an individual. Caregivers are often in a high risk category when it comes to developing issues that are both emotional and physical. You need to be aware of these risks so that you can take the steps that are necessary to take care of yourself. After all, if you’re experiencing your own problems, how can you be a good caretaker to someone who is counting on you? You’ll be worried about the changes that you’re going to be seeing this person go through as well as what the future holds for you as a family. Don’t give up the activities that you enjoy doing because you don’t think that you have time for them. At a macroscopic level, AD is characterized by loss of neurons and synapses in the cerebral cortex and certain subcortical regions. Because the median age of the industrialized world’s population is increasing gradually, Alzheimer’s is a major public health trial.

Correspondingly, advancing age is the primary risk factor for the disease. Different articles have criticized the design of studies reporting benefit from these drugs, concluding that they have doubtful clinical utility, are costly, and confer many side effects. For instance, boldly colored tableware aids those with severe AD, helping people overcome a diminished sensitivity to visual contrast to increase food and beverage intake. Currently available medications offer relatively small symptomatic benefit for some patients and some medications do slow disease progression. Intellectual stimulation, such as playing chess or completing crossword puzzles,[83] regular physical exercise,[84] and regular social interaction[85] all have a positive effect on the disease. Cognitive and behavioral interventions and rehabilitation strategies may be used as an adjunct to pharmacological treatment, especially in the early to moderately advanced stages of disease.
